Learning Experiences at CP offer one of the best opportunities for you to deepen your faith and grow spiritually here at Chapel Pointe. Taught by godly and gifted teachers, these courses and studies are designed to biblically equip you along your spiritual journey and transform your life and relationship with Jesus.

Each Learning Experience is designed to help you:
  1. Cultivate knowledge, understanding, and wisdom
  2. Grow in faith, love, and desire for God
  3. Engage your actions, obedience, and skills

Wednesday nights are also a great opportunity to grow as a family. For parents joining us for Wednesday classes, special Learning Experiences will be offered in cpKids for infants to 5th grade.

Taught By: Lee Horning // Former US Military Servicemember

REBOOT Combat Recovery is a 12-week faith-based trauma healing course designed to help combat veterans and their families recover from the spiritual and moral wounds of war. Since 2011, thousands of REBOOT graduates have seen their hope restored and lives transformed.

About the Teacher:
Lee Horning has been attending Chapel Pointe with his wife Julie and their 2 children since September of 2014. Lee served with Air Force Special Operations and has also served in many civilian contract security positions as well as working 14 years as part of Kent County Sheriff Department Traffic Squad. Julie served in the Army as Combat Heavy Engineer officer and has been employed in various positions in the medical device field since leaving the Army. Lee and Julie will be co-leading this class so come join us to experience true healing in Christ.

Jim is the Equipping Pastor of Chapel Pointe Church. His ministry focuses on adult discipleship, small groups, bible electives, care ministry and equipping leaders in each of these areas. Men of Influence—The Christian Man
Men of Influence—The Christian Man

This Learning Experience is a blend of Joel Wayne’s Men of Influence and a book study on The Christian Man. This is a 12 week course available for men 18 and up. Each week we will be discussing a new topic that engages us in a call to action. There will be a parallel 12 week course available for women that will be discussing the same topics each week.

Women of Influence
Women of Influence
Taught By: Kathryn Bilberry and Christi Zylstra

Women of Influence is a 12-week class designed for women to experience Jesus in new ways, be equipped in their daily walk, and live as transformed followers. Each week we will be discussing a new topic that engages us in opportunities to act on what is taught. There is a parallel course available for men. Minimal homework throughout the course will enhance the learning and growth of every participant..

About the Teachers:
Christi Zylstra is married to Edo Zylstra with 3 grown children.  Her background includes teaching of secondary English studies, coaching, writing, photography, editing, and business ventures with her husband.  She is currently immersed in various Bible studies and is enjoying raising adult children, experiencing outdoor adventures, and re-discovering hobbies.

Kathryn Bilberry is married to Luke Bilberry, Family Ministries Pastor at CP. She is on the communications team at Chapel Pointe, has three young children, and loves serving the church.

Bob is the Care Pastor at Chapel Pointe, and has been in ministry for over 25 years.  He’s been married for 31 years to Shandra and has 2 adult kids who are married and have started their own families.  Prayer is a vital part of his life and relationship with God.

About The Teacher:
John been at CP for 18 years.  During that time he’s served on the Elder Board for 13 years, been part of the worship team for 17.5 years, and been involved in small groups for 17 years.  He has been leading Precept Bible studies for the past several years, believing that inductive Bible study is the best way to study God’s word, and that the Precept method is an extremely effective way to do inductive Bible study. He’s a facilitator of discussion versus a lecturer, believing that we can all learn from each other in a group setting.

Chapel Pointe offers this program for women with children kindergarten age and under. BLOOM meets throughout the school year on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 9:00 am in our FLC. This is a great way to connect with other moms in our church family and the community. It’s a place to be encouraged, to grow in your potential as a wife and mother, to disciple your children, and to build a Christ-centered legacy.

Tuesday TEA
Tuesday TEA—Teaching, Encouragement, Accountability

Tuesday TEA (Teaching, Encouragement, Accountability) is a Bible study for women at all stages of Bible knowledge and study experience. The study is divided into bite-sized pieces to accommodate busy schedules, while teaching provides in-depth views into God’s Word.  Discussion groups offer accountability, encouragement, and connection with other women who desire to grow in their faith. Join us as we go back to the beginning and study the book of Genesis. TEA meets on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Tuesdays of the month at 9:00 AM. 

A children’s program is offered for pre-school age children for a small weekly fee. Please email Jackie VanDyke at jvandyke@chapel-pointe.org with questions.

The Gospel of Mark in Its Context
The Gospel of Mark in Its Context
Taught By: Marcia Johnson

* Note: This course does not begin until March 17

Re-Discovering Jesus through the Gospel According to Mark, Part Two. This 6-week study will carry women verse by verse through this action-packed gospel, using the lens of what it meant to the original audience. Home study will take approximately two hours per week. Group discussions will guide us in applying the truths we’ve discovered for our lives today.

The second part of Mark will be a great tie-in for the Easter season and will include an optional Seder the evening before Good Friday. Prior attendance at part one is not required.

About The Teacher:
Marcia is passionate about teaching the Bible in its cultural, historical, and geographical context. She has traveled extensively throughout most of the Bible lands, learning on site from a variety of Bible professors. She has taken graduate level course work at Jerusalem University College and has done much independent study of contextual content. Her teaching style utilizes multiple visuals and interactive discussions.

Terry has been attending CP for 19 years and has 10 kids with number 11 due in January (four adopted through foster care). He’s been leading studies for 6 years and has been a Chapel Pointe elder for 5 years.
