• I had a meeting last week that I had really been almost dreading. I had asked God for wisdom and to help me be gracious. He answered that prayer, and the meeting went better than I expected.

• I had a very large project that I needed to finish. God helped me push through to the finish last week.

• A survey trip to Thailand at the end of March-early April was very fruitful. We will begin sending medical teams to work with a new tribal group in northern Thailand. The first trip will go in October 2026.

Prayers

• Pray that God would send us six to ten more providers who will help us engage with our medical evangelism teams. (We need a couple of docs, nurse practitioners, and/or Physician Assistants.) We could send more out if we had more providers.

• Pray for wisdom in planning my fall travel schedule.

• Pray for sensitivity and boldness as I engage with some of my neighbors who need Jesus!

• This summer, we’re hosting a retreat for MKs and have an opportunity to pour into their lives

Praises:

• We have our return tickets to PNG on August 5th

• As of May 2nd Starlink became legal in Papua New Guinea! We’re pretty excited about it.

• We have a lot of traveling in the next 5 weeks, which can be hard, but we’re thankful for the freedom to travel in order to connect with family and friends one last time before returning to PNG.

Prayer Requests:

• We are feeling a little overwhelmed with the prep for going back to PNG. Trying to manage homeschooling, speech therapy for kids, traveling, doctor/dentist appointments, visiting people, packing up, and trying to think of all the things needed for the next few years that we need to buy now to take with us, etc. All good things, but overwhelming.

• During our time on furlough, many missionaries have left PNG for good. Many friends of ours and our kids’ friends will not be there when we return. It can be discouraging to see so many leave.

• Please pray for our teammates. Pray for unity and a confidence in the Lord’s leading as a team as we face difficult decisions and circumstances as we move forward.

• Nathan, our son-in-law, is loving his new job
• We have now sent 50 books to “Manager Priscilla” to distribute at the hotel where we stayed
• Many of the hotel workers have reached out to thank us, opening doors to share more of God’s Word with them

• Pray that God would move in our favor during next week’s court hearing as we seek to free IBCA from an unfair tax bill
• Pray for two more teenage guys Dave recently spent time with, that they would grow in biblical manhood
• Pray for preparation and scheduling as we host our next group and lead a VBS at the end of May

• 10 new schools from The Independent Schools Christian Alliance (TISCA) are using our new videos to share the gospel in their schools. Although the schools are run by Christians, many non-Christian families send their children to learn in these high-performing schools

• Christian Unions at Cambridge, Bristol, and Manchester universities have reached out to us about our new evangelism tool

• We had 120 non-church guests at our recent Easter cafe outreach

Prayer Requests:

• Kiera has an appointment with the doctor on 18 May to determine next steps for her spinal fusion surgery

• Ella will be in Ecuador for 8 weeks this summer on mission/study abroad trip

• Pray that many guests who came to our Easter outreach will decide to come regularly on Sunday mornings

The Cooper Family | Serving in Togo, West Africa

Chris and Lydia Cooper are ABWE missionaries serving in Togo, West Africa at the Hospital of Hope. The hospital cares for patients from over 6 surrounding countries, including many unreached people groups, serving as a church planting catalyst in the region. The Coopers are passionate about meeting the physical needs of unreached families to engage them with their spiritual need for Christ.

Praises

• All three of us are healthy and back to normal after back-to-back rounds of sickness.

• We are close to selling our house in Hudsonville this week! It is bittersweet, but we are thankful the Lord has provided a buyer.

• We progressed to the A2 language level and started a new trimester of classes!

Prayer Requests

• Please pray we find language partners to practice speaking French outside of class. One of our missionary friends is connecting Chris with his language partner, who has time to meet with another student. Please pray that it is a good fit and that Lydia is able to find a language partner as well.

• Please pray for one of the families at our school who had to flee the country in Africa where they were serving. They are now in the process of switching missions organizations to ABWE so that they can serve in Northern Togo! Please pray for their onboarding process with ABWE so that they can quickly get back to the field.
